Softball Loses First Conference Road Game

How It Happened
    The Barons travelled to Latrobe, PA for their first conference road game. In game 1 of the doubleheader vs the Bearcats the Barons lost 2-8. Going into the bottom of the 3rd, the Barons were in a very competitive game vs the Bearcats and found themselves down only 0-1. However, the Bearcats put up 3 runs in that inning to take a 4-0 lead. In the top of the 4th they found some much needed offense. McDaniels led the inning off with a triple to center field. Cedillo sent McDaniels home, then Stephenson singled to right field to bring Arnone home. This brought the Barons back to within 2 at 4-2. That was the last of the Barons scoring opportunities for the game. 

At the Plate
-McDaniels and Maxwell were 2 for 3
-the Barons recorded 5 hits on the day
-Stephenson was 1 for 3 and grabbing her first career RBI

In the Circle
-Starter Carissa Cedillo pitched 6 innings allowing 10 hits, 8 runs, 8 ER, and tallied 2 SO

How It Happened
    Game 2 was a quick one. The Barons lost 12-0 in 5 innings to finish the day up. Rackley recorded their only hit on the day.

Up Next
Franciscan will resume action on the road on Thursday at Penn State New Kensington. This will be the first time that these two teams have played each other in softball. The Lions hold a winning record so far this season, including a 2-0 mark in conference play. The first game is slated for 2 pm with the second one to follow.
