Franciscan Women's Tennis Wins Nailbiter over Pitt.-Greensburg

Franciscan 5, Pitt.-Greensburg 4

Doubles
The 2023 captains, Maria Herrera and Olivia Colby, picked up where they left off last season with some dominant doubles play. The won by a score of 8-4 in #1 doubles. Claire Cardie and Veronica Saunders teamed up at #2 doubles for the first time in their young careers. They had similar success as they won by the same margin. The #3 pairing of Delaney Dawson and Jordan Beltavski would fall to set the score at 2-1 as we headed into singles play.

Singles
Maria Herrera kept up her success with a straight sets win at the #1 spot. Olivia Colby would take three sets to get her victory but got the job done at #2 singles. A pair of sophomores, Veronica Saunders and Margaret Vernau would drop at #5 and #6 to make this a close match. Claire Cardie would go the distance but drop at #3 singles, but freshman Jordan Beltavski rallied strong to win at #4 singles. She dropped the first set, but showed a lot of heart to win the second and third set to help Franciscan start off the season with a win.
