Franciscan 8, Saint Vincent 1
Latrobe, Pa.- Franciscan Women's Tennis kicked off PAC play on Wednesday afternoon at Saint Vincent. They would get conference play started off with a big 8-1 win to join Geneva and Grove City atop the PAC standings with 1-0 marks.
Doubles
First to finish their match was the duo of
Delaney Dawson and
Jordan Beltavski at #3 doubles. They picked up their first win as a doubles unit with an 8-1 score.
Claire Cardie and
Veronica Saunders would have the same result at #2 doubles to give Franciscan their second point. At #1 doubles,
Maria Herrera and
Olivia Colby took care of business, as they moved to 3-0 on the season in doubles matches.
Singles
Olivia Colby and
Maria Herrera kept up their early season success with wins in straight sets to improve to 3-0 in singles so far.
Claire Cardie did not allow her opponent to score, as she won 6-0, 6-0.
Jordan Beltavski and
Veronica Saunders each picked up wins to help the Barons win in dominant fashion by a score of 8-1.
Next Up
Franciscan will finally have a chance to play in front of their home fans on Saturday, as they host Capital. They are slated to start at 1:00 p.m. at Belleview Courts. This will be the first time that these two teams play each other in women's tennis. This will just be the second match of the year for the Comets, as they will be in search of their first win of the 2023-24 season.
