2nd Half Comeback Forces Tie

Franciscan 3, Grove City 3

Starting XI
Elise Winogradoff, Judah Thomason, Teaghan Elmore, Gabriella De La Torre, Isabella Corley, Tania Davidson, Kiera Wilson, Lillian Torbeck, Juliana Rubino, Bella Rubino, & Goalkeeper - Rebekka Dill

How It Happened
The Women started to repeat the same woes the men's team faced in first game of today's doubleheader. At halftime, the Barons were down 0-3. The difference in this story is the women pulled off an incredible comeback with three unanswered goals.
After a frustrating night against the Jackets, Davidson and Rubino were determined to find a way to score. Today they found a way to beat the double teams. Davidson led the Barons off in the second half with a goal in the 50th minute. That was the spark the Barons needed to believe the comeback was possible. In the 68th minute, Rubino was fouled inside the box and was awarded the PK. She beat the goalkeeper. Within 18 minutes, what felt like a deflating 0-3 deficit was now a one goal game. In the 83rd minute the Barons had back-to-back corner kicks. On the second attempt, Teaghan Elmore found Juliana Rubino with only one defender on her. She gave the goalkeeper zero chance of saving her shot. With only seven minutes left on the clock, the Barons tied the game. They held on tight and take the trip home ecstatic they picked up the point for conference standing after a seemingly insurmountable task.
For the last couple of years, the Barons have had the Wolverines number. After a history of never beating the Wolverines, the Barons defeated them 6-1 and 4-1 last year. Today, they took whatever hope the Wolverines had of returning to their winning streak and crushed it. As time expired you could see the difference in attitude. The elated Barons rushing passed moseying Wolverines kicking grass on their way back to the sideline.
The second half of play is what the Barons needed with only two conference games separating the highly anticipated 2022 PAC Championship matchup with Westminster

Inside the Numbers
-Juliana Rubnio led the Barons with 5 shots with 3 on net, and 2 goals
-Dill recorded 5 saves in her first game back
-Davidson's goal is her 4th on the year

Who's Next?
Franciscan will continue PAC play on Tuesday as they travel to Thiel. The Barons are 10-1 all-time against the Tomcats, including wins in their last six meetings. Last season, the Barons won by a score of 5-1. Tania Davidson led the way with a pair of goals. Anni Winogradoff, Maria De La Torre, and Juliana Rubino each scored one goal in the victory.
