How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Basketball made the trip out to Latrobe to take on Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon. Both teams came into this matchup in hopes of snapping their losing streak. Unfortunately, the Bearcats would be able to snap their streak as they picked up the win.
The Bearcats would take a 6-0 lead over the first two minutes of play. Caroline Reedy would spark the Franciscan offense with a layup and three point bucket to pull within one point of the lead. Emma Clow would also connect from deep, as the Barons would trail 14-10 through one quarter.
Saint Vincent would make their move in the second and third quarters. The Barons would show some heart in the fourth quarter, as they would win the final ten minutes by a score of 19-16. Clow heated up with eight of her 11 points in the final frame.
Inside the Numbers
- Reedy led the Barons with 13 points, as she has scored in double figures in each of the last three games.
- Mikayla Doan pulled in seven rebounds.
- Reedy had four steals.
- The Bearcats out-rebounded the Barons by a margin of 56-35
Up Next
Franciscan will remain on the road on Wednesday afternoon, as they take on Grove City. These two teams played each other on November 21st in Steubenville with the Wolverines winning 68-53. The Barons played them very tough in the second half to a score of 38-35, but they could not overcome their poor offensive first half. The Wolverines have since played well and are right in the middle of the PAC playoff picture.
