Franciscan Starters
Ilena Gonzales, Caroline Reedy, Sophie LaRose, Natalie Conner, & Maria McCallen
How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Basketball made the short trip to Chatham on Saturday for a noon start. The Cougars entered the game with a perfect 8-0 record at home this season, and they were able to remain unbeaten there with a win over the Barons.
The Barons would take a few minutes to get started in this one, but that would be enough time for the Cougars to take a commanding lead. Emma Clow made a three point field goal to put the Barons on the board, as they would trail 23-5 through one quarter. The Barons would get going in the second quarter, as Maria McCallen would score six straight points for the Barons. Giuliana Biasutto would also heat up with five points this quarter. After 20 minutes of play, the Cougars would lead 42-20 at the half.
McCallen and Gonzales would score early buckets in the third quarter, but then a Chatham 13-0 run would give them control of this one. McCallen would enter the fourth quarter with eight points scored, but she would go off for 12 points in the final quarter. The freshman's 20 points is a new career-best, as she was an efficient 9-14 from the floor.

- McCallen led the Barons in points (20), blocks (2), and steals (2) all in just 24 minutes of play.
