How It Happened
The Barons hosted Penn State Beaver at Steubenville High School for the Cedar One Group Steubenville Classic on Saturday afternoon. A large home crowd showed out for the Barons, and they delivered.
Defense was the story of the first half, as the Barons held the Lions to 17 points on 22.2% shooting from the floor. Franciscan shot 50% from beyond the arc. Only six fouls in total were called in the opening twenty minutes, as this half was over quickly, and Franciscan held a 31-17 lead.
An 8-0 run for Franciscan started the second half to jump the lead up to 22 points, and the Barons would not look back. The Barons grew the lead to 27 points with eight minutes to play, as Coach Joe Wallace would go to the bench. Volodymyr Trotsko, Anthony Ciola, Anthony Angelle, and Joseph Ehinger scored in the closing minutes to seal the first 4-0 start for the Barons since the 1973-74 season.

Franciscan concludes a stretch of three consecutive home games when Washington & Jefferson comes to Finnegan Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening. The Barons are 5-9 all-time against the Presidents in a series that dates back to 1954. Last season, the away team won each of their two meetings. In January, Washington & Jefferson won 86-70 in Steubenville, and In December, Franciscan won 66-61 in Washington. In that win, Josh Zimmerman led the charge with 22 points and nine rebounds.
