How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan made the trip north up 79 on Saturday to take on Grove City at 1:00 p.m. It was a career day for Maria McCallen. She scored 32 points, one shy of the program record for most by a Baron in a game, and her 14 made field goals set the program record for most made in a game by a Baron.Â
Maria McCallen and Ilena Gonzales led the way for the Barons in the opening quarter, but the Wolverines made five three point filed goals in the first ten minutes to hold a lead heading into the second quarter. McCallen kept up her strong play in the second quarter with six more points to give her 12 points in the first half. The Barons would trail at the break, as the Wolverines shot over 50% from the floor in the opening half.
Franciscan's offense came out to play in the second half. McCallen led the charge with 10 points in the third quarter and fourth quarters, while the Barons scored 25 and 26 points in each frame. McCallen picked up the double double as well in the second half, as she ended with 11 rebounds. The Wolverines' offense would be too much, as they shot nearly 55% from the floor with 16 made three-point field goals.Â
Inside the NumbersÂ
- 32 points was the most scored by a Baron since Head Coach Iliana Spoelman scored 32 points against Pitt.-Greensburg in 2016.

- 82 points are the most Franciscan has scored in a loss.
- 116 is the most the Barons have allowed in a game in program history.
Up NextÂ
Franciscan will continue PAC play on the road on Tuesday against Saint Vincent. The Barons are looking to snap a seven-game skid against the Bearcats with a win in Latrobe. Saint Vincent went .500 last season, and they were picked to finish fifth in the PAC according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll.
