How It Happened
Franciscan kicked off the 2024-25 season by hosting La Roche at Finnegan Fieldhouse on Friday evening. The game would not go Franciscan's way, but some positive take aways for the Barons against tough, non-conference foe.
Maria McCallen led the Barons with seven points in the opening half, and Ilena Gonzales had five points, including a three pointer. As a team the Barons were six of nine from the free throw line. Rebounding was an issue in the opening half, as the Redhawks out-rebounded the Barons 27-10 with 15 offensive rebounds. The Barons trailed 43-15 at the half.
The third quarter was big for the Barons, as they added 17 points while outscoring the Redhawks by one. Gonzales had five of these points, while Reedy and McCallen each had four this quarter. The Redhawks closed out the fourth quarter strong to win 88-36.
