How It Happened 
    For the final game of the 1st annual MBC Blue Collar Ball Classic, the Weir High Red Riders faced off against Steubenville Big Red. Big Red is known for their historic football program, but no one thought those skills were going to be needed on the hardwood. There was a lack of whistle-blowing in this contest which led to bodies flying everywhere. It was a master class in how to finish through contact. Steubenville's Aiden Davis proved to be the most proficient at that. He went 7-13 from the floor for a game-high 54% shooting on his way to a 21 point night to lift Big Red over the Red Riders 79-36.
    Big Red came out of the gun with 3/4 court ball pressure. Early in the match Weir handled the pressure well and punished the over extended defense by tallying up easy points. However, the lack of depth of Weir ball-handlers slowly took it's toll. When the pressure began to break their Red Rider offense the margin began to widen. Weir High made some incredible plays on the defensive end, but couldn't put together a clean offensive set. Their biggest threat on the night was #5 Damir Mowder. When they were able to get him the ball in the paint, he turned those touche into points at an efficient rate and drew the attention of the entire Big Red defense. 
    A big thank you to both teams for bringing great basketball from the Valley to campus, and to all the fans that made the trip to support their teams and make this event incredibly fun for everyone. From everyone at Franciscan, the Athletics department, coach Wallace, and the men's basketball team Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing everyone next year.
    
    *small side note: there was a program error that caused the stats to have 28 minute quarters. This led to players starting a quarter to get additional 20 minutes of playing time. Please disregard minutes played when viewing the stat sheet. We apologize for any inconvenience.

-Big Red had three players in double digits (Davis, Haney, and Taylor)
-Mowder led the Red Riders with 10 points
