Franciscan 77, Thiel 59
Franciscan StartersÂ
Abbigail Jannuzi, Ilena Gonzales, Jazzlyn Melnyk, Moira Hughes & Maria McCallenÂ
How It HappenedÂ
After a slow and tumultuous start, the Barons began the second quarter on an 11-2 run. They took the lead with seven minutes left and never looked back.
In the first quarter the Barons shot a cold 25% from the field and found themselves in a small hole trailing nine points just before the quarter break. A timeout set the women straight to go on the aforementioned run and seal the game.
They kept the hot had and continued finishing well to finish with just under a 20 point lead.
   Â
Inside the NumbersÂ
- Only 59 points allowed is their greatest defensie performance this season
-two Barons (Melnyk and Gonzales) finished with double-doubles
-McCallen had a game-high 20 points. She is now averaging 17.3pts/game
-Melnyk's 14 rebounds is the sixth time she has tied her career-high
Up NextÂ
Franciscan will return to competition at Allegheny on December 14th. The Barons are 0-5 all-time against the Gators, but they have played them close over the last three seasons. The Gators got off to a slow start in non-conference play this season, but they have picked up some wins in conference and gained some momentum.
