How It Happened
Franciscan Men's Lacrosse would make it four wins in a row with a 22-2 win over Anderson on a sunny and breezy day in Steubenville. Joseph James would have another stellar day with eight goals and seven assists to lead the way for Franciscan.
Gavin Cook netted a pair of goals in the opening quarter, as it would be a mostly defensive game through one quarter. The Barons would lead 4-1, but then they would breakout in the second quarter. Joseph James and Nathaniel Carter would each score two goals in the second quarter, as the Barons scored seven unanswered to take an 11-1 lead into halftime.
Scoring would continue for the Barons in the second half. Gavin Cook would net his third of the day which would be his 100th of his career. Joseph James poured in three more as he was sharp all game long. The Barons would add five more goals in the fourth to take this one and improve to 6-2 on the season.
Inside the Numbers
- James tied his program record of 15 points in a game.
- Redmond led the Barons with 16 ground balls and four caused turnovers.
- Vale saved 13 shots to pick up his sixth win of the season
- Strandhagen was 18-27 on faceoffs.
Up Next
Franciscan will remain at home to take on Mount Union on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. The Barons are 0-2 all-time against the Purple Raiders, but they have not played each other since 2014. Mount Union has three wins already this season over PAC schools, as they have beat Bethany, Thiel and Washington 7 Jefferson. They have lost to a pair in Allegheny and Westminster, so this should be a great final non-conference test for Franciscan.
