Franciscan 7, Geneva 2
Doubles
The Barons had to make the short trip to Geneva to play indoors on Friday after this match was rained out in Steubenville on Thursday. The trip would not affect the Barons, as they would play well in doubles play.
Aaron Heinlein and
Christopher Yvars would be the first match to settle, as they won 8-1. Shortly after that,
Aidan Palladino and
Travis Mistry would win at #1 by a score of 8-3. Last but not least,
Samuel Sabol and
Callahan Hecton won 8-4 to give the Barons a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
Singles
The Barons would have their freshman step up in singles play, as Heinlein and Yvars would pick up wins to give the Barons the team win. This win may prove to be pivotal in the league, as the Barons now will have the tiebreaker over the Golden Tornadoes in the conference standings.Â
Callahan Hecton and
Aidan Palladino would also secure wins to give the Barons a 7-2 win on Friday afternoon. The win puts the Barons in third in the PAC halfway through the conference schedule.
Next Up
Franciscan is scheduled to return to action at home against Washington & Jefferson on Tuesday April 16th at 3:30 p.m. The Barons are 6-1 all-time against the Presidents with the lone loss coming in the fall of 2023. The hope to bounce back with a PAC win on Tuesday afternoon.Â
