Franciscan 17, Washington & Jefferson 6
Franciscan Starters
Luke Reimer, John Tedeschi, Alex Ahmann Joseph Norton, Jack Nelson, Jeofre Strandhagen, Gavin Cook, Samuel Marshall, Joseph Redmond & Goalkeeper- Richard Vale II
How It Happened
Franciscan would honor their large class of eight seniors before this one in front of a loud home crowd on a blustery Saturday in Steubenville. Head Coach Pete Rosaschi would start a lineup full of seniors, and they would take care of business. 10 of Franciscan's 17 goals would come from seniors, as they would defeat Washington & Jefferson to pick up a pivotal PAC win.
Joseph James scored the first two goals of the game, as he jump-started the Barons attack once again. Masso scored a pair in the second, as the freshman made their mark as well in the one. The Barons held a 7-3 lead at the half with stellar defensive play keeping the Presidents offense quiet for most of the day.
Samuel Marshall netted four goals in the second half, Gavin Cook added three, and Jack Nelson netted one, as the seniors would take over to put an explanation point on this one. This would also be the Barons first win over the Presidents in program history.
Inside the Numbers
- Marshall scored five goals for the third time this season.
- James had a team-high seven points with two assists on the day.
- Redmond caused three turnovers.
- Vale had 15 saves to pick up his ninth win of the season.
- Strandhagen was dominant with 16 faceoff wins.
Up Next
Franciscan will return to action on Saturday, as they host Chatham for their last regular season, home game of the season. The Barons are in search of their first win all-time against the Cougars, but the last couple of seasons they have played them tough. Last season, in Pittsburgh they fell 12-5, but they hope that they can earn that win in 2024 to continue to climb up the PAC standings.
