Franciscan 1, Grove City 8
Doubles
   The freshmen phenoms
Aaron Heinlein and
Christopher Yvars took down their opponents in the #2 doubles spot. That was the only team point the Barons earned on the day.Â
Singles
Both of the freshmen took their opponents to a third set, but failed to close out the point.Â
Franciscan 9, Thiel 0
Doubles
Immediately following a tough loss in Grove City, Pa, the Barons traveled to Greensville, Pa to take on the Thiel College Tomcats. A double header in tennis isn't very common, but due to weather impact and timing constraints it was a necessity for the Barons to get all their conference matches in, secure a playoff spot, and hopefully a home quarterfinal match.Â
The men showed no signs of struggle from the long day and high number of matches. They swept the Tomcats at every spot. Including straight sets in the #3 doubles (
Aidan Palladino &
David Bourdelais), #3 Single (
Aidan Palladino), #5 Single (Bourdelais), and #6 Single (
John Palladino).
Next Up
Franciscan will host #5 Washington & Jefferson on Tuesday at the Belleview Tennis Courts for the PAC Quartefrinals. These two teams just met on April 16th on the same court with the Barons winning by a score of 8-1. With a win, the Barons would travel to Allegheny or Grove City on Thursday for a Semifinal matchup.Â
