Steubenville, Ohio -Â A rainy morning in Steubenville cleared up and allowed this match to start as scheduled at 4:30 p.m. at Belleview Courts. The Gators entered the match with a 5-0 record in PAC play with their lone loss coming to a Division II opponent. Franciscan suffered one PAC loss earlier this season, but they are coming off a pair of victories in the last five days.Â
Doubles
  At #2 doubles,
Olivia Colby and
Jordan Beltavski continued their dominate starts to the the 2024 season as they won 6-1. The both improve to 8-0 on the season with 4-0 marks in PAC play. At #3 doubles,
Veronica Saunders and
Lucy Rochat took the early lead of 2-1, but the Gators would answer back with four straight points to take a 5-2 advantage. The Gators would close it out and tie it up at one doubles match apiece. The final doubles match would be the #1 pair.Â
Claire Cardie and
Kina Ehlers drew the reigning PAC Player (Julia Musseler) and Newcomer (Evie Ellenberger) of the Week. They also took an early 2-1 edge, but the freshman duo from Allegheny settled in and rallied some points together to take a 5-2 edge and close it out to take a 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.Â
Singles
  The Gators would control the #6 and #2 matches to take a 3-0 lead. That would force the Barons to need to win the last four matches to take the victory. The Barons would drop the #5 match to give the Gators their fourth point and clinch the match.
Jordan Beltavski battled in a back and forth match but would drop her first singles match of the season. The rain would then come back out of no where to suspend the final two matches that were each in the third set.Â
Next Up
  Franciscan will return to action on the road Tuesday at Westminster. The Barons are 4-10 all-time against the Titans, but they have won the last three meetings. Last season, the Barons won by a score of 8-1. The Titans are off to a flawless start of the 2024 season, as they are undefeated with three conference wins.
