How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Basketball took on Saint Vincent on Wednesday night in Steubenville. The Bearcats beat the Barons in Latrobe earlier this season, and they were able to do the same tonight.
The Barons took an early 9-4 lead thanks to
Jazzlyn Melnyk's s strong opening quarter. The defense also caused havoc, as the Bearcats had seven turnovers in the opening 10 minutes. The Bearcats shooting heated up in the second quarter and the rest of the game, as they scored 20+ points in each of the remaining quarters.
Maria McCallen got going in the second quarter, as she scored in double figures once again to lead the way for the Barons. All 11 Barons in uniform saw minutes. Saint Vincent won 97-48.
Inside the Numbers
- McCallen led all scorers with 19 points.
- McCallen fell one rebound shy of a double-double with a team-high nine.
- Reddy scored 12 points, and Melnyk added nine.

Franciscan will remains at home to take on Grove City on Saturday which will be Kuzma Day in Steubenville. The Barons fell to the Wolverines at Grove City by a score of 116-82 in November.
Maria McCallen scored 32 points on 14-19 shooting while pulling on 11 rebounds for a massive double double. The Wolverines sit in the playoff picture in a tie for fourth place, as the Barons look to spoil their playoff dreams with a win at home on Saturday.
