The Latest
- Franciscan hosted Washington & Jefferson on Tuesday and fell in a thrilling four-set match.
- PAC Offensive Player of the Week, Logan Hickey, led all players with 21 kills.
- The Barons sit in playoff position at the moment, as they are tied with Saint Vincent for third in the PAC South Division.
- This will be the first time the Barons play at Hiram. They have only played them once with that match being at Baldwin Wallace in 2015.
Scouting the Terriers
- The new PAC member is off to a hot start.
- They enter this match on a two-game winning streak, as they sit atop the PAC North Standings.
- They are 5-0 at home this season.
- Sofia Smotek leads the charge for their offense with 223 kills.
- Kelly Hoffman is looking like one of the best setters in the PAC with 546 assists already and 237 digs.
A Look Around the League
Historic Start to a Career
- Logan Hickey has had a historic start to her collegiate career with 257 kills over 15 matches. If the season ended today, that would be the 9th most by a Baron in a season all-time
- Anna Cain had 332 kills in 2012, her senior year, and that has stood since as the most kills by a Baron in a season.
- Hickey has recorded 15 or more kills in each of the last eight matches.
- She ranks 16th in all of NCAA Division III in points per set (4.91) and 11th in kills per set (4.43).
Newcomer Battle
- Two of the best freshmen in the PAC and all of NCAA Division III will take the court on Saturday.
- Logan Hickey and Sofia Smotek are both off to amazing starts to their career.
- In Division III, Hickey leads all freshmen in kills per set, and Smotek is second.
- Combined, they have been named PAC Newcomer of the Week in five of the six weeks this season.
- Hickey is #1 in the PAC in points per set, Smotek #2
- This could be the first of several meetings over the years, and it will be exciting to see how each newcomer performs in this match.
Rising through the Ranks
-Mary Jean Cadman climbed into 7th all-time in kills with 598 and is nearing her former teammate, Gabrielle Disselkamp '25, who is 6th with 641 kills.
- Cadman climbed to 9th in points with 653.5. She is nearing Amy O'Keefe '15, who is in eighth with 655.5 pointsÂ
- Mary Smart climbed to seventh all-time set assists with 605. She now closes in on Rachel Potopa '17, who sits in sixth with 645.
- Kaitlan Hickey's 3.87 digs per set over her career is fourth-best in program history. It has steadily climbed all season, as she is approaching Nicole Henson '12, who held a 4.46 average as a Baron.
