How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan Women's Basketball improved to 3-2 on the season with another home win on Saturday against Carlow. The Barons reset the program record for steals and caused turnovers after setting those just two days ago. The Barons are now 2-0 at home this season.
   Â
The first quarter was one to forget, as both teams struggled offensively. Francisan scored just four points, but the defense was amazing and held the Celtics to eight points. The offense came to play in the second quarter, as they went off for 23 points. The Barons made four three-point field goals in the quarter, as the shots started to fall. The defense remained strong, as the Barons built the lead up to seven points at the half.
 Â
Magdalen Simon scored seven points in the third quarter, as the Barons were able to expand their lead up to 13 points.
Isa Saez-Pedraza converted a three-pointer to end the quarter, as the Franciscan faithful were excited in Finnegan Fieldhouse. The Barons climbed the lead up to 16 points in the fourth quarter. A couple of turnovers and missed free throws prevented the Barons from pulling away, but they were able to secure victory and go above .500 for the season.Â
