Women's Soccer Defeated in Semifinals

Franciscan 0, Grove City 1

Starting XI
Catherine DeWolf, Elise Doyle, Teaghan Elmore, Bella Urso, Isabella Corley, Felicity Igot, Abigail Parker, Kierra Wilson, Brenna Pereira, Abby Measor, & Goalkeeper - Callie Giguere

How It Happened
The Barons traveled to Grove City to face the #1 seed Wolverines in the PAC Semifinals. The Barons allowed an early first half goal to go down 0-1. The Wolverines continued to stay aggressive and on the attack, but the Barons weathered the storm. In the first half alone, they faced 13 first half shots from the Wolverines. They held on and managed to stay in the mix and in striking distance. In the second half, the Barons shifted onto the attack and evened the offensive opportunities at 4 shots each for the half. The best chance the Barons had came mid-second half. On a corner kick, Elmore found DeWolf on the far side of the box behind a gaggle of players. She got her foot on the ball, but it was blocked. Her shot rebounded and found its way back to a Baron. The second chance bounced around between players, but no luck to have it spit out in front of the net. The second attempt rattled out away from the net and into the control of the Wolverines.
The loss last night concludes the 2025 PAC season for the Barons. They faced multiple challenges this year and rose above them epitomizing the qualities of NCAA college athletes. From an extremely trying non-conference schedule to drastic position/role changes within the year, the Barons rallied together and rose to the occasion. These efforts were highlighted by their mid-late season run up the PAC standings to then make the playoffs, upset Chatham in the Quarterfinals, and take the #1 seed Wolverines down to the wire. There are over 400 division III women's soccer programs in the nation and only one of them gets to end their season on a win. Which is why when the dust settles and our players look back, they should feel nothing but pride for their accomplishments.
