How It Happened
The Men's Basketball team took the standard break for Christmas. Waiting for them upon their return was the two day Doc Green Tournament. There was no loss of step for the Barons after their holiday celebrations. The engine is roaring like it never left campus.
On day one they faced Stevenson University. It was mostly a single possession contest. Late in the second half the Barons led by as much as eight. Stevenson made an effort to slowly crawl their way back in, but the Barons staved their attempts and walked away with a four point victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Butler's 20 points is his 7th 20+ point performance this season
- Oliver's 17pt & 11 reb performance is his 3rd consecutive double-double

How It Happened
Franciscan dominated Juniata sweeping their second non-conference tournament this season. In the last tournament, the Barons leaned heavily on Butler, but his performance this night dwarfs any performance prior.
On their way to a six point victory, Butler broke the single-game scoring record and single-game three point record. It appeared that not even fouling was a way for Juniata to stop Sawyer on his way to 49. He attempted a staggering 15 free throws making all but two. In addition to his ability on the offensive end, Butler puts considerable efforts defensively. He led the Barons in steals with three and tallied five rebounds on top. He is now averaging 27.2 pts/game. Nobody else in the PAC is over 20, and he is likely going to be top 5 in the nation in scoring when the next weekly updates get released.

Up Next
Franciscan will return home, as they conclude non-conference play on Saturday, January 3rd against Capital at 2:00 p.m. This will be the first time that these two teams meet on the hardwood. The Comets sit around .500 on the year, but they have played a very tough schedule. W&J was able to beat them recently, and they have played a pair of teams receiving votes nationally, and they fell by just one point to Division I Cleveland State.
