Relays Shine as Barons Tie Program-Best Finish at PAC Championships

How it Happened
  • Claire Walters got the Barons on the board in the first running event of the day. She placed fourth in the 5,000m with a time of 17:58.89. That time was a new program record, as it bested Alison Bryant's previous record by nearly 10 seconds. 
  • The Barons kept up their success in the mile, as Jessica Campbell placed fifth. She also ran a personal best time and broke the program record. Her time of 5:12.18 was three seconds faster than Grace Galligan's previous record from 2019. 
  • Rebecca Bolster ran a season-best time of 1:04.83 in the 400m, as she finished in 10th just off the podium.
  • The best finish of the day came in the 800m, as Lauren Dosch placed second. She ran a time of 2:15.35 which broke the PAC record time, and was just bested by two tenths of a second. That time was the second-fastest time in program history.
  • Another podium trip came in the pole vault. Kimbria Lance had a day, as she tied her program record to place third in a talented field. Her best clearance was 3.25m.
  • In the 3000m, Emily Maag just missed the podium, as she placed 11th with a time of 11:42.91.
  • With two events left, the Barons were not done making their mark on this Championship. They made their first trip to the top of the podium in the distance medley relay (DMR). The team of Jessica Campbell, Mary Grace Gauntner, Lauren Dosch, and Claire Walters combined to run this event in a time of 12:35.37. That time was a new PAC Championship record time, program record, and 30th fastest in the nation upon completing. 
  • In the final event of the evening, the 4x400 relay, the Barons placed fourth, as they ran the third-fastest time in program history. The team of Kathryn Bolster, Rebecca Bolster, Lauren Dosch, and Jessica Campbell combined to run a time of 4:14.42. Grove City secured the team title with a PAC Championship record time and first-place finish in this event.
The PAC also announced their All-Sportsmanship Team after the Championship, and Emily Maag earned this distinguished honor.

Up Next
The Barons will head south to kick off the outdoor season in Myrtle Beach over spring break. They will compete in the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on March 14th-15th.
