How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan Women's Basketball hosted Allegheny in a PAC tilt on Saturday. Several records broken in this one, but the Franciscan highlight was
Jazzlyn Melnyk becoming the program leader in assists, as she broke Monica Dawyot's '16Â previous best mark of 206. The first quarter was very back-and-forth with the Gators pulling away late to take a five-point lead into the second quarter. The Gators shot 50% in the opening quarter from the floor, and they improved in the second quarter. 23 second quarter points propelled their lead up to 19 points at the half.Â
The Barons responded with a better defensive third quarter, and then they brought the offense in the fourth quarter. The Barons outscored the Gators thanks to 27 points with production from up and down the lineup. The Barons shot 54.5 % from the floor in the fourth, as team to close out this game on a positive note.Â
