How It Happened
The Barons began day 2 with a game against the Dean College Bulldogs. The Barons took the field first and had the makings of a nightmare inning. A hit, a stolen base, and a walk gave the Bulldogs loaded bases with 2 outs. Cook honed in and struck the batter out looking to save the inning and keep the opponents at nil.
Winner was walked as the Barons lead off hitter, but the positions after her got three quick outs leaving her on base. The 2nd inning is when things unraveled for the Barons. The first batter reached base on an error. The Bulldogs followed that up with five hits and two walks scoring 6 runs before the Barons once again had to rely on the freshmen pitcher to get out of the inning with bases loaded. Cook did what most freshmen would struggle doing, stay focused and not let the loaded bases and recent troubles waver you. With two outs and loaded bases she struck the batter out to retire the inning.
The Barons lone run came off Winner's double to lead off the inning. That wrapped up scoring for the Barons and the game ended in five innings with the Bulldogs having an 8 run lead

How It Happened
The Barons pick up their first win this season.
Janey Winner had a lead off double in the first inning and was sent home by Kozares batting third in the lineup. The Barons played stout defense for 7 straight innings to make
Janey Winner's run...a Winner.
In the 5th, Linden singled up the middle. She advanced to second and then was sent home by another hit by Winner. Janey has started the week hot batting .583 in the Barons' first four games.
Not to be too overshadowed, but at the foundation of the Barons great defensive performance stands freshmen pitcher
Olivia Linden. After 7 innings in the circle, Linden pitched a shutout allowing only 5 hits.
A great performance and a win worth celebrating. If the women are lucky maybe coach takes them to the highly rated "The Chicken Joint" for dinner.

Franciscan will conclude their spring break trip with an afternoon doubleheader on Friday. First, they will take on Immaculata at 3:00 p.m., and then they will square off with SUNY Canton.
