Franciscan 1, Immaculata 17 - 5 Innings
Â
Franciscan Lineup
Janey Winner LF, Emma Davis CF, Madison Kozares C, Hayley Cook 3B, Abigail Savage SS, Elizabeth Maxwell 1B, Olivia Linden P, Kyra Collins RF, & Lauren Pelletier 2B
How It Happened
In the bottom of the 3rd, the top of the Barons' lineup strung together some hits and freshmen standout Winner scored the lone run, but an otherwise tough Immaculata team to hit against. On the fielding side, the pitchers were a little off their mark. Starting pitcher Linden and relief pitcher Maxwell totaled 15 walks with 8 counting for runs with bases loaded. The bright spot of the day was seeing crisp throws and decision-making when the ball was in play. Maxwell may have not had a great statistical effort pitching, but she had a strong commanding presence in the circle that got the Barons out of innings and tight situations.
At the Plate
-Winner continues her hot start going 1 for 2 from the plate
-Davis lead the team going 2 for 3 at bat
In the Circle
-Starter Linden pitched 1.0 innings and recorded 1 strikeout
-Relief Maxwell pitched 4.0 innings allowing 8 earned runs and recording 1 strikeout

How It Happened
For game 2, the Barons faced the SUNY Canton Roos. They quickly fell behind allowing two runs in the top of the 1st, but answered back tallying 3 runs in the bottom of the inning. Cook grabbed her first career triple to send Winner home scoring the Barons first run. Maxwell followed that up two batters later with a double deep to right to grab 2 RBI's and a Baron lead.
In the bottom of the 2nd, the Barons had the greatest inning at bat in two years. They scored 5 runs off 3 hits and capitalized on every Roos mistake. The Barons went almost completely through the batting order and every player got their bat on the ball.
They followed that up with another 5 run inning in the 4th. Maxwell had a deep single to right field that sent two runners home. Maxwell totaled 5 RBI's for the game coming just one RBI short of tying the single-game program record. The teams 16 run performance is the second most runs scored by a Baron team and the 16 RBI's is also the second most all-time.
Janey Winner put a punctuation mark on her great week. She was an incredible 4 for 5 at bat bringing her week's batting average to .632. The NCAA site will update their national rankings in the next day or two, and there is a small chance Janey may get to see her name in short list of national leaders in batting average. Incredible offensive performance for the young Baron squad. The best possible way to end the trip to Myrtle Beach by coming home with a win that will sit in the record book. Congratulations ladies.Â
