How It Happened
Franciscan Men's Lacrosse made the short trip over to Bethany on Wednesday afternoon and snapped their skid with a conference win over the Bison. The Barons got a couple of players back from injury, including their leading scorer Joseph James.
James did not waste time in making his mark on this game, as he scored two of the Barons' first three goals. With the score tied at 4-4, Dominic Scordino scored a goal late in the first quarter to take a 5-4 lead into the second quarter. The Barons jumped all over the Bison in the early part of the second quarter. They added six goals in a little more than seven minutes to hold an 11-5 lead. The Bison answered with four goals of their own to close out the first half with a score of 11-9.
The second half had less scoring, as the Barons looked to preserve their lead. The Bison scored first to pull within one of the lead, but then, Carter, James, and Burke each scored to regain a commanding lead at 14-10. The Barons held a 15-11 lead, as they headed into the fourth and final quarter. The Barons took 18 shots in the final quarter, but the Bethany defense stood strong and allowed just one goal. The Bison were able to score a pair to make the final minutes very interesting, but the Barons came out on top to win by three goals.
