How It Happened
Franciscan Men's Lacrosse traveled up to Thiel on Wednesday for a PAC matchup against the Tomcats. The games was played indoors in the Rissell-Schreyer Dome while it was raining outside in Greenville. The Barons had a new goalie in net, as Luke Reimer got his first collegiate start between the pipes. The Tomcats got to him early with a pair of goals in the opening quarter, and the Barons were not able to get on the scoreboard for the first 15 minutes. Franciscan responded in the second quarter. Four different players combined to score five goals in the first seven minutes of the second quarter with a pair scored by Carson Smith. Thiel made it a two-goal game at 5-3, but then the Barons answered with three more goals to close out the first half and take a commanding lead into the second half.
Dominic Scordino netted three goals in the first half, and he led the offense in the second half with three more, including one on a power play in the opening minutes. Gavin Williams then added another man-up goal and the lead was up to seven at 10-3. Scordino added two more this quarter, as the Barons were able to take a nine-point edge into the fourth quarter. Nathaniel Carter led the charge in the fourth with three goals of his own. Liam Muller netted his first collegiate goal in the closing minutes, and Will Barnes played the final thirty minutes in goal for the Barons, as a total team effort led to their first PAC win of the season.
