The Latest
- The Barons opened Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) play with a loss against Saint Vincent College in Latrobe on Wednesday night
- On Thursday, they bounced back with a non-conference win in four sets against Carlow.
- The Barons will take on Bethany College for their first home conference game on Saturday.
- This will be the first of two meetings against the Bison this season, as they are both in the PAC South Division.

Scouting the Bison
- The Bison come into the matchup with a 4-6 record and winners of their last two matches
- They took down Washington and Jefferson in straight sets in their first conference game, as Chatham, Saint Vincent, and Bethany are all 1-0 in the South through Thursday's play.
- Their offense runs through senior Averie Braymer, who leads them in kills (106) and points (130) through 10 matches.
- A freshman setter has taken the starting spot in Grace Padavick, and she is one of four servers with more than 10 aces this season. 

Familiar Foe
- The Barons and Bison are local rivals with several connections.
- Adriana Gilliam, assistant coach for Franciscan, played for the Bison last season. She was second on the team with 243.5 points while playing at outside hitter alongside Braymer.
- While there is a new coach in place at Bethany this season, Riley Felton. Gilliam is very familiar with her, as they played together for two years at Bethany and in high school at Southern Local. 
- The Bison also have some local players that will be playing close to home on Saturday with Analesa Perdue, who is from Steubenville, and Ashton Thomas from Toronto. The Bison's assistant Coach Anna Taylor is also a Steubenville native. 

Freshman Offense
- Logan Hickey leads the Barons with 122 kills through eight matches this season. Her 3.94 kills per set is third-best in the PAC.
- Caroline Linklater has 30 kills with 10 coming against Carlow on Thursday night.
- Combined, the freshman duo accounts for 46.9% of Franciscan's kills this season.

Rising through the Ranks
-Mary Jean Cadman sits 8th all-time in kills with 531 and is closing in on Christina Lawrence '16 in 7th with 535 kills over her four-year time with the Barons.
- Cadman climbed to 9th in points with 583.5. In eighth, Amy O'Keefe '15 has 655.5 points 
- Mary Smart has now passed Mary Moore '17 for 8th on the all-time rankings with 457 set assists. She now closes in on Teresa Marcotte, who sits in seventh with 486.
