The Latest
- Franciscan went 1-2 over Labor Day weekend at the Great Lakes Crossover in Sandusky, Ohio
- Their win came against Baldwin Wallace in a five-set thriller. Logan Hickey had 26 kills, the second most in a match by a Baron in program history and most by a freshman ever.
- The Barons fell to Muskingum in three sets on Friday, and then lost early Saturday morning to Concordia of Chicago in four sets.
Owls and Hornets, Oh My
- The Barons are 2-1 all-time against Kenyon in a series that dates back to 2018. Last season, the Barons beat the Owls 3-1 at their place. Mary Jean Cadmann had 17 kills, and Kaitlan Hickey had five aces in that win.
- Kenyon is in search of their first win of the season, as they have just won one set in four matches through a tough, non-conference slate.Â
- This will be the first time that Franciscan has played Kalamazoo. They also played at the Great Lakes Crossover last weekend. They were swept by a pair of PAC schools in Hiram and Washington & Jefferson on Friday, but then swept Oberlin and Worcester State on Saturday to hold a 2-2 record.
Rising through the Ranks
-After the opening weekend, Mary Jean Cadman was able to climb up to 8th all-time in kills with 491. Sitting in seventh is Christina Lawrence '16 with 535 kills over her four years with the Barons.
- Cadman remained 10th in points with 542.5. With a couple of points, she will pass Meghan Bayer '20, who sits in ninth with 545.0 points.
- Mary Smart became the 9th Baron to eclipse 400 set assists in last weekend's contest against Concordia. With 404 set assists, she sits in 9th on the all-time rankings. Mary Moore '17 sits in eighth with 414 in her career.
All in the Family
- In year two at the helm, Coach Jen Hickey has two of her daughters on the team once again.Â
- Last year, Meghan wore #20, and Logan has taken that number for the 2025 season.
- Logan Hickey was named PAC Newcomer of the week for the opening week of the season. She led the PAC in kills per set at 4.75. She finished the week hitting .246 with 57 kills and 29 digs.
- Kaitlan Hickey has stepped into the libero position as a sophomore in 2025. She leads the Barons with 71 digs, including 41 in their win against Baldwin Wallace, which was the fourth-most in a five-set match in program history.
Miller Time
- Tessa Miller leads the Barons in blocks with 10.0 through the first three matches.
- Her 0.83 blocks per set is 4th best among all players in the PAC through Wednesday's action.
