How It Happened
Last night's matchup between the Franciscan Barons and the school just across the river in West Virginia should be coined the Market St. Bridge Showdown. This "trophy" remains owned by the Barons.
The Bison jumped out to an early lead going into the first media timeout, but their offensive production came to a grinding halt after that. In that timeout they were leading 8-3. By the next media timeout the Barons had gone on a 13-6 run, then followed that up with 24 unanswered points to take a 40-14 lead. The Bison were stuck in the mud at 14 points for what felt like an eternity. They managed 12 points in the final four minutes to save face, but the damage had been done. The Barons held fast their 20+ point lead for the duration of the second half until the Bison waved the white flag conceding defeat as they checked their young players that don't normally see play into the game.

Inside the Numbers
-Barons were led by Oliver scoring 18 pts and adding 6 rebs
-freshmen Anthony Covetta and Zachary Pollaro each tallied double-digit scoring
-Karl Yonkeu scored 15 points with 7 rebs

Up Next
Franciscan remains at home to take on Westminster on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. The Barons have had the upper-hand as of late, by beating the Titans in their last three meetings. Last year, they beat them twice by a combined margin of just four points. This will be their lone meeting this season, as Westminster is in the PAC North Division.
