ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - On Sunday, October 18, Franciscan alum
Andrew Madigan ('26) won the annual AmeriHealth Atlantic City Marathon, claiming victory in two hours, 29 minutes, and 13 seconds. Madigan, who ran with the Franciscan men's cross country and track & field teams from 2022-25, finished over six minutes ahead of the next finisher, and held a 5:42 average mile pace for the 26.2 mile event.
Madigan, who hails from Lawrenceville, N.J., ran in a field of over 1,200 runners along the Atlantic City boardwalk and throughout the city. While the course had some slight adjustments on the course from previous editions of the marathon, he was not fazed and comfortably won the marathon. As Madigan finished his race, which was livestreamed on YouTube, he made the Sign of the Cross as he crossed the finish line.Â
Andrew Madigan was a member of the Franciscan cross country team from the 2022 through the 2025 seasons, and on the track & field team from 2023-25. He was on the 2022 and 2024 country teams that won the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) championships, and he was named to the All-PAC First Team in 2024 for his sixth-place finish in the PAC Championship meet. Other honors Madigan won while running for the Barons included being named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the 2024 USTFCCCA All-Academic team, and the 2022 and 2023 PAC Academic honor rolls.
