How It Happened
The Barons traveled to Meadville, Pa to take on the Allegheny Gators. The Gators are a playoff contending team fighting to stay in the top half of the conference. The road game was going to be a big test for the Barons streaks.
"You can't lose if they don't score", may be true, but the Barons don't play to not lose. They relied on their stout defense and went after the Gators last night. The Barons registered six shots on goal compared to the Gators one. This was not a team hunkered down trying to protect their nationally ranked defensive stats. They pushed the field and took chances to get a goal and stay atop the PAC. The Gators keeper did a fantastic job holding her team in the game and forcing the 0-0 tie.
The tie earns the Barons one PAC point which erased the two point lead the Barons had on Grove City. Franciscan and Grove City are now tied for first place in the PAC sizing up to be the game of the season as the two meet this Saturday in Steubenville to decide who stays at the top.
