How It HappenedÂ
The Barons hosted the St. Vincent Bearcats for senior night. Before tip off, they honored seniors
Malachi Rose-Burton and
Reece Miller who have been with the program for four years. Both got a start in the game, and Miller made most of his opportunity. He played through to the first media timeout and lit up the Bearcats going 2-2 from the field. Even after he left the floor, six minutes into the game the Bearcats had yet to surpass Miller. The Bearcats still had just two points and hadn't met Miller's production.Â
The dominant defense continued throughout the first half and the Barons built a pretty large lead. St. Vincent made some large runs in the second half, but the Barons maintained their large lead holding the Bearcats at a 20 point arms reach away.Â
With the Barons defeating the #1 seed Bearcats and the rest of the South winning, there is now a 4-way tie for first. There's a staggering amount of scenarios that can happen after the final regular season game Saturday. The Barons could finish as high as #1 or as low as #4. The dream situation is the Barons defeat Bethany and St. Vincent wins against Chatham. In that case, the W&J result doesn't matter and the Barons would be the #1 seed of the South and guaranteed home court through the PAC Championship.
Inside the NumbersÂ
- Covetta scored 13 bringing the Barons' win total to 12=1-1 when he scores double digits
- Butler had a game-high 24 points
- Butler also led in rebounds and assists
Up NextÂ
Franciscan will conclude the 2025-26 regular season at Bethany on Saturday. The Barons are 9-10 all-time against the Bison, including wins in their last three meetings. The result of this game will determine the Barons' seeding in the PAC Championship Tournament. The Bison have already been eliminated from postseason play, but they will still be ready to spoil the day for their rival.
