Butler Adds ECAC First Team Honors to Impressive Season

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2026 Division III Men's Basketball All-ECAC Teams and major award winners on Wednesday morning

Franciscan had one player honored. Sawyer Butler (Jr. Beaver, Pa. / Beaver Area) was named First Team All-ECAC. This is his first honor from the ECAC, and he is the first Baron to earn All-ECAC honors. 

He helped lead the Barons to back-to-back ECAC Tournament berths and has scored nearly 1,500 points over his three seasons in Steubenville.

Butler led the Barons and the entire PAC in scoring at 21.5 ppg this season, to earn First Team All-PAC honors along with PAC Player of the Year recognition. He scored 20+ points in 15 of the 28 games, including a program record 49 points at Juniata. He is one of just seven players in all of NCAA Division III to make 200+ free throws this season, and he shot 84.6% from the charity stripe.  Butler brought it on both ends of the floor while playing 31.6 minutes per game. His 5.8 rebounds per game were second most on the team, and he led the Barons in steals and assists. His 2.5 steals per game led the PAC.

The ECAC is an eighty-six year old intercollegiate athletics organization with roughly 200 member schools for traditional sports across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II and III - that exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in NCAA sports, and provide great value for universities, by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the country. The ECAC also hosts a comprehensive esports program, with over 300 schools, 4,000 teams and 10,000-plus participants in twenty-four different games titles.
