Barons Close 2026 With a Statement and Prepare for Postseason

To wrap up the final week of regular season play, the Barons faced their postseason rival, the Tomcats, a tough Tornado squad, and finished with a long overdue game verse a Division II opponent.
To start the week outlook, the Barons faced the Saint Vincent Bearcats. Year after year, the Barons and the Bearcats end up meeting in the postseason and seem to always be the other ones postseason undoing. This year the Barons edged out thanks to their traditionally strong doubles play. Doubles has always been a strength for Franciscan tennis, and it proved to be the difference in this matchup. The Barons defeated the Bearcats 4-3. You can find the complete box score here
For the following Wednesday they swept the Thiel Tomcats. You can see that games complete box score here
The final PAC game was against the Geneva Golden Tornadoes. The Tornadoes were in desperate need of a win to avoid risking their postseason place, while the Barons were enjoying their three seed and quarterfinal hosting. Neither team was in the market for adding a loss to their record column. The Barons had a strong showing only dropping two matches and gave everyone a teaser for the potential Quarterfinal rematch. You can find the complete box score for that game here.
Finally, the Barons hosted West Liberty which was a game long overdue and being made up from early March. It is an early season matchup that has become customary, but this year it was a nice high level test just before the conference post season. The Barons came dangerously close to defeating them for the first time ever, but fell by one point. Some individuals enjoyed success despite the teams loss with top hitters Aaron Heinlein and Christopher Yvars going undefeated on the day. You can find that box score here.
