The Latest
- Franciscan concluded last season with a 12-13 record under second-year Head Coach Jen Hickey
- The Barons made it to the PAC quarterfinals last season after a conference record of 8-8, bowing out in the round to #2 Thiel by a decision of 3-1.
- Three Barons received All-PAC honors following the season. Freshman Logan Hickey was named PAC Newcomer of the Year, sophomore Kaitlan Hickey was named to the Second Team, and grad student MJ Cadman earned Honorable Mention All-PAC.
- Franciscan was picked to finish fifth in the conference via the PAC Coaches' Poll last week. The top eight teams make the playoffs.

Scouting the Foes
- This will be the 13th time the Barons will face the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions. Franciscan has won the last nine matchups.
- Penn State Beaver enters this game with an 0-2 record, losing 3-1 to both Christendom and Penn State Beaver over the weekend of Aug. 28-30. 
- Last season, the Nittany Lions finished with a 9-16 overall record, a 4-6 PSUAC record, and a first round exit in the conference playoffs.

Home Sweet Home
- The Barons will open the regular season at home for the first time since 2021. 
- This will be one of four Franciscan's games at home this month, with the other 10 games in September being played away from campus.
- Last year, the team made the Fieldhouse a fortress, going 8-3 on its own home court.

Special Sisters
- Logan and Kaitlan Hickey each return for their second season of action together. The two were consistent starters on the team last year.
- The pair dominated throughout last season, with each attaining All-PAC honors after the season, and earning multiple weekly honors throughout the season.
- Each led the team with most amounts of sets played (97), and Logan led the team in kills (468) and points (522).
- Kaitlan Hickey will be the team's libero again this season, whereas Logan will be one of the team's outside hitters.

Transfer Coming In 
- This season, the Barons will have a transfer arrive from a Division I school. Junior Anna Guard, who played for Eastern Michigan from 2024-25, will make her Baron debut this year.
- Guard was sixth last season amongst her team in kills (83) and points (95). Playing as a middle blocker, Guard was fifth on her team in total attacks (289).
- For the Barons, Guard will change position to become an outside hitter.
