OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Franciscan men's soccer season came to an end in the first round of the 2018 ECAC Tournament as the Barons fell to host Stevenson, 3-0, Friday evening.
After a scoreless first half, the Mustangs found the back of the net in the first just 1:32 into the second. After a corner kick, a scrum remained in front of the net and the Barons were unable to get a clean clear of the ball and Tariq Lee found an open corner of the net to give Stevenson a 1-0 lead. Just over five minutes later, the Mustangs pushed their lead to 2-0 as Lee blasted a hard shot from the top of the box just out of the reach of sophomore

JP Bobak took a nice cross-body shot that went just wide of the net. In Stevenson's next possession, Pete Wicker had an initial shot blocked before James Vess collected the rebound and shot from the left side through the keeper's legs to give the Mustangs a 3-0 lead.

Sebastian Koehler got a shot off in the 87
th minute and freshman Matthew Kuefler sent a shot wide in the 90
th minute but the Barons could not find the back of the net and the score held 3-0 in favor of the Mustangs.
Stevenson out-shot the Barons 17-10 for the game and held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Gaughan made four saves in net for the Barons. Gaughan brought his single-season save total to 87 for the single-season record for the Barons. The sophomore's 1.43 goals against average also set the single-season record for Franciscan. His 12 wins is also a record for the Barons.
The Barons wrap up their season with a 12-8 overall record, the most wins in a single-season for a Franciscan team, after advancing to the ECAC Tournament for the second-straight season.
