Men's Soccer Prospective Student Athletes

Men's Soccer Prospective Student Athletes

Franciscan is a Catholic University looking for student-athletes who are serious about their faith and have the maturity to handle the high expectations of the program.  The Mission of our soccer program and our Athletic department is to educate, evangelize and send forth joyful disciples. A GREAT LEVEL OF PLAY We are looking for players who have a high level of technical, tactical, and athletic ability. We aim to be one of the best college soccer programs in the country and want players who are dedicated to the game and their faith.  POSITIONAL NEEDS We are looking to bring in 10-12 players in each class. We are looking for players at all positions.     THE RECRUITING PROCESS The team is chosen through the recruiting process. We do not have open tryouts when the fall season begins.  Therefore, it is important for interested high school student-athletes to understand both the process and the timing.  The following are some steps you can take to help in the recruiting process: 1. Contact Us:  Fill out our online recruiting form so we will have your information. Then follow up with a personal e-mail to Head Coach Brent Ridenour at bridenour@franciscan.edu. 2.  Attend our ID Camp: Our Fall ID Camp is a one day event held in late November in coordination with the University's Athletic Visit Day.  Our Summer ID Camp is a multiple day event held in mid July.  The ID camps are held on campus for those serious about playing soccer at Franciscan or who want to learn more about the University and our soccer program.  It is one of the most important parts of our recruiting process as we make many of our roster decisions based on the evaluations from this Camp.   It is also a great way for you to learn more about the system/style/feel of the program, our players, and our coaches. More information and online registration can be found on the camp website:  3. Send us Tournament Schedules:  If you will be attending a club tournament, then send us your game times, field locations, opponent, and jersey number. Playing club soccer is vital to the success of our recruits and plays a large role in who we invite to join the team.  4. Visit Campus:  You can get a campus tour, meet with Admissions, and spend time with the coaching staff.  Contact our Admissions Office at (740) 283-3771 or Admissions@Franciscan.edu to set up the visit, and be sure to let them know you wish to meet with the soccer coaching staff.  You can also sign up for a campus visit online:  https://franciscan.edu/visit-franciscan/ 5. Send us Video/Highlights:  Although we don't typically offer spots based on video alone, it can sometimes be a good starting place for the recruiting process. 6. Come to a Game or Training Session:   It is of great benefit for you to see us train or play and get a first hand look at the level of play, the team's style, and the atmosphere surrounding a game. TIMING We spend the fall, spring, and summer of a player's junior year to identify and evaluate players who we think would be an excellent fit for Franciscan--spiritually, academically, and athletically. Please contact us and attend our camps at any time, but the junior year and summer before your senior year are the most important times for the recruiting process to join our program.
