DANBURY, Conn. – The Franciscan men's soccer team's season continues as the Barons have been selected to the 2018 ECAC Tournament and will face Stevenson in the first-round game on Saturday.

The Barons earned the No. 4 seed in Pod Four and will take on hosts No. 1 Stevenson in the first game of the weekend. Following the Barons/Mustangs game, No. 2 Penn St.-Harrisburg is take on No. 3 Wesley at 2:00 pm. The winners of the two games will play on Sunday for a trip to the semifinals on Saturday, November 17.
The Barons enter the tournament with a 12-7 overall record, setting a new school wins record after their 6-1 win over D'Youville in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament quarterfinal match.
Sophomore Sebastian Koehler leads the Barons with 20 points this season behind 10 goals and a team-best three game-winning goals. Sophomore JP Bobak is second on the team with 17 points thanks to a team-best seven assists and five goals. Bobak has two game-winners and is 2-2 on penalty kicks. Freshman Nick Miller is tied with Bobak with 17 points behind seven goals and three assists.
Sophomore Brian Gaughan is having a break-out year for the Barons in net as he has a 1.35 goals against average. Gaughan set the program's single-season wins record (12) and the single-season saves record (87) in his first year in net.
Stevenson (11-8-1) enters the tournament as the pod's host after falling to Messiah in the MAC Commonwealth's semifinals game, 1-0. The Mustangs are led by sophomore Jay Smith with 16 points thanks to a team-best eight goals, three for game-winners. Junior Dr Medtart leads the Mustangs with seven assists and has four goals for 15 points this season. Sophomore Tariq Lee is third on the team with four goals and four assists for 12 points.
Freshman keeper Matt Stellitano has a 1.06 GAA for the year behind 87 saves and a .821 save percentage. Stellitano is 10-7-1 in net for the Mustangs this season.
The meeting between the Barons and Mustangs will be the first in program history.
The tournament begins on Saturday when the Barons and Mustangs take the field for an 11:00 am contest in Owings Mills, MD.
