Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CRESSON, Pa. – The Franciscan softball team dropped an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference doubleheader on a pair of walk offs Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Barons dropped the first game 6-5 before falling in the night cap, 2-1.

Sophomore Ashley Kondracki gave the Lady Barons a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as she singled to left field to bring freshman Allyson Weiss home. Weiss got on base thanks to an infield error and promptly stole second. After a pair of outs, Weiss stole third before Krondracki's single. Weiss hit her second career home run with sophomore Dennise Carrazco on third to give Franciscan a 3-0 lead in the top of the third. After Andi Queen pitched her third-straight 1-2-3 inning, Franciscan plated a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to take the 5-0 lead. With Queen on third and junior Anna Ames on second, Carrazco singled to center field to score the runners.

After a scoreless fifth and sixth inning for both teams, the Lady Barons went down in order in the top of the seventh and held the 5-0 lead. With the bases loaded and no outs, Karly Klein reached on an error by the Franciscan left fielder and Lydia Defazi came around to score and the bases stayed full for Mounties. The Lady Barons got an out but another error and a Mt. Aloysius double cleared the bases and tied the game, 5-5. Franciscan got its second out, but a single to left with Kate Little on second ended the game in favor of the Mounties, 6-5.

The Lady Barons and Mounties went scoreless through the first five innings in the night cap, the two teams collected just five hits between them over those innings until sophomore Anna Fluharty broke up the scoreless tie with her second solo home run of the season over the left field fence in the top of the sixth. The Lady Barons threatened in the top of the seventh but couldn't add any insurance runs.

The Mounties completed the doubleheader sweep with their second-straight walk off single to cap a two-run, three-hit seventh inning and the 2-1 win.

Carrazco, Fluharty and Weiss all finished the day with a  pair of hits while sophomore Jayln Effertz posted four stikeouts between the two games in the circle.

Franciscan looks to continue its road trip as the Lady Barons head Buffalo, NY on Sunday to take on D'Youville at 1pm.
