Box Score BETHANY, W.Va. – After 90 minutes did not decide a victory, the Franciscan men's soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss in overtime to Bethany (W.Va.), Monday evening.
Iwan Mooney took a pass from Gabe Leach with 4:16 to play in the first overtime and placed the ball right under the crossbar to give the Bison the lead.
Franciscan had a shot just a minute before the game-winning shot but sophomore Sebastian Koehler's (Ashburn, VA/Seton Home Study) shot went just wide to the right.
The Barons weren't without their chances, however, as they out-shot the Bison 14-8, including 7-2 with shots on goal. Sophomore keeper Brian Gaughan (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) made one save in net for the Barons.
Freshman Nick Miller (Galena, OH/Olentangy) led the Barons in shots with four, one on goal, while sophomore JP Bobak (Grand Island, NY/Canisius) finished the day with three shots, two on goal for Franciscan.
The Barons look to get back in the winning column on Saturday as they travel to Hilbert to resume Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action at 4:15 pm.
