Barons Host Penn State Behrend in AMCC Game of the Week

STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan men's basketball team is set to host Penn State Behrend on Saturday in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Game of the Week. The Barons and Lions tip off at 4:00 pm on Kuzma Court.

For the Barons (8-7; 4-4 AMCC):
 
The Franciscan men's basketball enters Saturday's game with an 8-7 overall record and a 4-4 slate in conference play. The Barons set the program's single-season win record this past Saturday with a 64-48 win over Hilbert College. Leading the way for the Barons is junior Matt Trent with 10.5 rebounds per game and 12.0 points per game. Trent recently became the DIII-era leading rebounder for the Barons with 17 boards against Hilbert on Saturday. For his career, Trent has 504 rebounds. Sophomore Sean Hickey leads the Barons and is third in the AMCC with 16.4 points per game. As a team, the Barons are second in the league averaging 41.1 rebounds per game and boast a +4.2 rebound margin. Franciscan's defense is second in the conference, holding teams to a 42.0 shooting percentage from the floor.
 
For the Lions (12-2; 6-2 AMCC):
 
The Lions had their nine-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday when they fell to D'Youville College, their first loss ever to the Spartans, and the first for Behrend since November 28. Sophomore Nolan Nuara did not miss on Wednesday, going 9-for-9 from the field for a career-high 21 points, while senior guard Andy Niland dished out 10 assists to go with nine points. Senior forward Dan Wanker could be the third player this season to reach 1,000 career points, as he currently sits at 918.  Behrend remains in second place in the AMCC (6-2) behind undefeated La Roche at 8-0.
 
Penn State Behrend holds  a 19-1 lead in the series history with the Barons lone win coming on January 18, 2010 in Erie, PA.
