Short Story: The Lady Barons fought hard in every set but could not defeat the Yeowomen for the second time this year
How it Happened
- A back and forth early start to set one resulted in a 6-6 tie, but then a 5-0 run had the set at 11-6 advantage Yeowomen. Franciscan rallied strong earning nine of the next thirteen points to be the first to fifteen, leading 15-14. An Oberlin 7-0 run that included three aces by Jaya Flynn-Young put Oberlin in control to a first set win.
- Oberlin jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in set two, but Franciscan came back to tie it up at six behind three kills by Meghan Bayer. Oberlin proceeded to go on a 6-0 run to take a 12-6 advantage. The Yeowomen would hold on to a controlling 25-16 set win with 13 kills as a team in the set.
- Oberlin opened set three with a 4-0, but Franciscan responded with five unanswered points, including two kills from Renee Antonelli. Points were traded back and forth with Franciscan taking a lead 15-14. The Lady Barons latest lead came at 21-19, but a late 4-0 run by the Yeowomen that included two kills by Maura Gibbs gave them a lead that they wouldn't relinquish.Â
