STEUBENVILLE, OH -  Barons win a tough fought game as their defense holds Alfred State to 57 points, Lien leads Barons scorers with 21 points and 9 rebounds.

How it Happened

• Both teams started out very cold from the field to start this one as the score would stand at 4-4 nearly eight minutes into this one before Sean Hickey made a jumper to give Franciscan the edge. Travis Lien would add a pair of treys to extend the Baron lead to 12-6. The Pioneers would keep battling as they added two more buckets of their own, before Joe Schriner buried a three. They would exchange a couple buckets as the score would get tied back up at 23-23 with 2:01 left in the half. The Barons would end the half on an 8-0 run as Schriner and Lien would connect on threes and Schriner added a late driving layup to send the Barons into the half up by eight points.
• Alfred State made the necessary adjustments coming out of the half as a quick 6-0 run would tighten this one back up to 31-29. The Barons would get the wake up call as they would go on a 16-0 run over the next seven minutes. Matt Trent and Sean Hickey each had four points in this run, and Travis Lien had five to give the Barons a commanding 18 point lead. The Pioneers would not quit as Josh Reding heated up by hitting a trio of jumpers down the stretch to get this game within eight at 59-51 with 3:23 left. The Barons showed they knew how to win by going 6-6 from the line to put this one on ice 67-57
