How it Happened
- The opening minutes were back and forth as Matt Trent made a layup to give the Barons their first lead at 6-5. It would be all Mavericks for the next minute as they would heat up on an 9-0 run to retake the lead at 14-6. The Barons would cut it to four as Sean Hickey would connect on a pair of his six threes he made tonight. Travis Lien also added a three as the game would be tied back up at 20-20.Â
- Andrew Salasek would hit a three to stop a small Maverick run as the Barons were trailing 28-27 with 7:03 remaining in the half. Brandon Roach would connect on a pair of threes to stretch a Mavericks lead to 10 points, as Medaille would control the tone of the rest of the half. Sean Hickey added a three in the final minute to take it to half down seven. Sean Hickey went into the half with 19 points for the Barons.
- Kirk Hawkins came out hot to start the second half as he went on a personal 6-0 run to stretch the Medaille lead to thirteen points. Hawkins would remain hot as he added another layup to give the Mavericks a 70:53 lead with just over ten minutes to play. A Franciscan 8-0 run cut this one back to single digits with seven minutes to play.
- Matt Trent would hit a layup and add a pair of free throws to cut the lead to only six, but that is as close as this one would get, as Medaille would be very strong from the free throw line down the stretch. They would go 12-14 from the line in the final six minutes to secure the 13 point win.
