Barons Travel to Altoona for a Monday Tip

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Barons are coming into this game after a huge Senior Day win on Saturday against D'Youville. Penn St. Altoona is on a two game slide, as they are currently in fifth in the AMCC, but in need of a couple wins to clinch a playoff spot.

All-Time Series Against Penn St. Altoona

  • Altoona beat Franciscan in Steubenville by a score of 85-75. Jack Kusters had a stellar game for the Lions, as he went off for 27 points including 7-8 from three. Andruw Harman had a double double with 16 points and 17 rebounds. The Barons had five scorers in double digits, Trent (16), Lien (13), Schriner (11), Mack (10) and Hickey (10), but it was not enough to combat the strong Lion's offense. 
  • The Barons won 99-91 at Altoona last season. The Barons were up by six with a minute to go in regulation and nearly blew it, as the Lions made a run to send it into overtime. The Barons were dominant in overtime as they would outscore the Lions 14-6, including an 8-8 performance from the free throw line. Sean Hickey scored his career high of 27 points, and Travis Lien scored his freshman season high of 14 points in the victory

  • Senior Matt Trent scored 21 points in Saturday's win against D'Youville. He is averaging 14.5 ppg and 7.6 rpg on the year.
  • Sean Hickey scored 20 points on Saturday, his fifth 20+ point game of the season, as he has made three three pointers in each of his last two games.
  • Travis Lien continues to show off his versatility. He led the Barons with six assists on Saturday, and he had a posterizing dunk late in the game. His average of 16.3 ppg is 6th best in the AMCC. 
Scouting Penn St. Altoona
  • Previously mentioned Kusters has been the Lions most consistent scorer, as he is averaging 15.7 ppg, but he is struggling as of late with 27 points in his last four games combined. 
  • The Lions are first in the AMCC with 41.1 rpg. Cameron Gardner-Nicholson leads the Lions with 8.9 rpg, third best in the conference by a player.
  • The Lions are the worst free throw shooting team in the AMCC at 61.2% on the season.
