How it Happened
- The Barons would jump out to an early 7-2 edge, as Drazen Frankovitch scored on a left hook to start the game. The next five minutes were pretty back and forth, as Sean Hickey would tie it up at 12-12 with a made three. The Barons would be trailing 18-19, but then a 10-0 Baron run gave them a much needed spark. Sean Hickey would continue to work his way to the free throw line, and he would make four in a row at one time to give the Barons an 11 point lead. Gardner-Nicholson would go to work for the Lions, as a 13-2 lead would tie this one up late in the half. Hickey hit a late three to go to the half up by three, but the Lions had the momentum.
- Frankovitch would keep up his strong game, as he scored seven points in the first four minutes to give the Barons a four point edge. McClellan would begin to warmup for the Lions as it would be turn into a back and forth battle. The score would get knotted up at 61-61 with just over nine minutes to play. Lien broke the tie as he hit a three; he was just warming up while he was in foul trouble as well the rest of the half. Frankovitch would make a layup to take a four point lead with 3:32 to play. Hickey would ge to the free throw line with under a minute to play, and he would go one for two to take a three point lead. Jack Kusters, who had a very slow day, would make him pay as he buried a three to send it into overtime.
- Noce would make a three and pair of free throws in the early going of overtime. Joe Schriner added a bucket as well, and it felt like the Barons were in the driver's seat halfway through the OT period. An 8-0 Lion's run would ensue to give them the lead, but the Barons would respond once more to take a four point lead with under thirty seconds to play. The Lions would go for the quick two, and then Schriner lost balance on an errant inbound pass that led to a Franciscan foul. McClellan would make both free throws to send it to double overtime.
- The Barons would jump out to an early lead once more as they would be up by four with 3:42 to play. Kusters responded again by hitting a clutch three pointer. Lien and Frankovitch would add buckets to give the Barons a three point lead, but McClellan would do it again, as he would tie it up with less then a minute to play. Frankovitch would make a hige layup as Lien would draw the double to find the open Frankovitch on the left block. Hickey would then get a steal with a wide open run at the rim, but he was intentionally fouled hard at the rim. He would make the par of free throws to ice the the game. Barons would win 101-98

- Sean Hickey scored a team high 27 points, tying his career high. 12 points came from the free throw line, the 2nd most made free throws by a Baron in a game.
- Frankovitch scored a career high 19 points, as he came up huge to neutralize Gardner -Nicholson on some key possessions.
- The Barons only had nine bench points, as they would break the school record for most point scored with 101.
- Lien, Noce, Mack and Vernau each played extended minutes with four fouls. Joe Vernau fouling out late in double overtime.

The Barons will be off this Wednesday as the rest of the conference plays. The Barons will travel to Buffalo over the weekend as they take on Medaille at 2pm on Saturday. Medaille beat the Barons in their previous meeting 95-82 in Steubenville.
