Men's Tennis Drops Competitive Matchups On Day 1

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. - Franciscan University dropped to highly competitive matchups to the University of Saint Francis and the University of Northwestern on Monday March 9. 

The Barons opened the day by facing University of Saint Francis and struggled to find success in their doubles matchups. Only the team of Gary Pierre and Billy Presume were able to pick up a victory in the #1 Doubles Matchup, 4-6.

Franciscan would fair far better in singles competition. #3 singles player Presume picked the teams first singles points winning 7-6, 5-2. Giorgio Alexander earned the #4 singles victory 7-6, 6-2. Finally #6 singles player Christian Cappello won his match 7-5, 6-2. The Barons fell just short, 5-4.

Alexander continued his winning ways from earlier as won in #3 singles 6-4, 6-1. Luke Conrad pulled out his first win of spring break in #2 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. Pierra and Presume continued their #1 doubles sucess in the night match as well, but they would be the only doubles team to win. Barons fall 3-6.

Men's Tennis will be back in action on Wednesday March 11, when they face Wabash College at 11:30 a.m. and Wentworth Institute of Technology at 3:00 p.m. as they continue play in Orlando Fla.
