How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan Men's Soccer team came into today's contest on a 5-game winning streak. Franciscan got off to an early start with scoring. Joseph Fioramonti caught a W&J player trying to dribble through traffic on their own end. Fioramonti took the ball from him, beat a second defender, then found Jonathan Schriner streaking down the left side. Schriner powered a right-legged kick past the goalie and put Franciscan up 1-0. In the 35th minute Sebastian Koehler caught a break off a miscue by the W&J goalkeeper. Miller sent a long ball to the right corner to Koehler, who attempted to cross the ball to a streaking Schriner. The goalkeeper stepped up and attempted to corral the ball. He was unable to control it, and the ball spun off of him and into the goal. Sebastian Koehler was awarded a solo goal, and the Barons went up 2-0. The Barons would hang on to the 2-0 lead into halftime.
For the second half, the Barons played more conservative, and focused on controlling the ball. W&J had very little chances to generate scoring opportunities. The Barons would win 2-0, and extend their winning streak to 6, and remaining undefeated in conference play.
Coach Ridenour has been very happy with his team's performance as of late. He had this to say about today's win, "Great team defensive effort today. We were a little off in the attack, but everyone helped us get the shutout."
Inside the Numbers Â
-Freshmen Jonathan Schriner has 8 goals on the season.
-Sebastian Koehler has 9 goals, putting him one away from tying his career best 10 goal season in 2018.

Who's Next?Â
Franciscan will return home to take on Grove City on Wednesday evening. The Barons are 1-3 all-time against the Wolverines with their lone win coming way back in 2008. Last year Grove City won 1-0 at their place with their lone goal coming in the second half. Grove City has had a successful season thus far, as they are 4-1 in PAC play. They have a tough matchup against Chatham tonight to remain ahead of the Cougars in the PAC soccer standings.Â
