Alison Bryant Places 8th in large field at Oberlin, while Franciscan places 17th as a team.
Race Highlights
The Franciscan Women's Cross Country team had a strong showing at Oberlin on Saturday. The 34 team field with over 300 runners, on a wet Saturday morning, was a big test for Franciscan.
Alison Bryant stepped up to the challenge by placing 8th with her season best time of 22:33.8 in the 6K race. Second to finish for Franciscan was
Ashlin LaFond with a time of 24:51.7. Franciscan then had a trio of runners finishing between 129th overall and 141st.
Elizabeth Atkins placed 129th,
Jessica Campbell finished 139th and
Rachel Hurley was right behind her in 141st place.Â
Franciscan placed 17th with 479 team points. They were the top finishing PAC school of the seven that were competing in this event. Geneva placed 23rd, Grove City 24th, Waynesburg 25th, Saint Vincent 26th, Washington & Jefferson 29th and Chatham 34th. Evie Bultemeyer of Trine won the race with a time of 21:14.5, as she was over thirty seconds clear of the second place finisher. PAC affiliate member for football, Carnegie Mellon won the team event with 122 points. Allegheny placed second, and they will be joining the PAC next season.Â

Franciscan will have some time to rest and prepare, as they return to competition at the PAC Championship on October 30th. This year Chatham will serve as the host institution, so the race will be in Pittsburgh. Franciscan was able to check out the championship course during the PAC Preview earlier this season. Franciscan placed 4th out of the four teams there on that day.Â
